homelessness solutions
Our City is merely managing homelessness. We need to solve it. With the billions of dollars spent and unaccounted for on homelessness, there is no accountability, data, or real solution for the crisis. Reforming our approach to homelessness and spending on it is critical. We must restructure "Inside Safe", itemize our spending for the public, and copy/paste successful models like Hollywood 4WRD's in each neighborhood of the district.
city services
Our ~$14 billion of annual revenue barely makes it back to us. We have to restore our city services within the budget. We are operating on older civic models and need to modernize. Starting from an overhaul of our budgeting and spending in departments, I will make sure city services are restored and improved.
constituent services
Constituent services are the most critical part of the job. Constituents will see and hear my presence and I will be an active part of the community. Every email and call to the office will receive a response and we will get the problems addressed and work on solutions promptly.
public safety
LAPD reports that crime is down but it doesn't feel like it. Safety is as much a feeling as it is a reality. Seeing public safety officers gives residents and visitors a feeling of safety. Adding unarmed crisis response officers will give our LAPD officers more attention and time to respond to the crisis calls. There are ways to remove costs from the budget and not remove services like patrol and phone operators to also expedite response times. It can and will be done.
accountability
Too many scandals and too many opaque budget lines. Ensuring contracts are not just handed out and we are doing expert procurement for those contracts is a critical element to successful budgeting and city practices. I will also institute transparency with discretionary funds. Members of the community will be appointed to the "Discretionary Fund Task Force" to identify, review, and recommend projects for funding.
public realm
The "Public Realm" is basically from one sidewalk, across to the street, to the other sidewalk and includes all things in-between. From additional trash cans that are emptied regularly to planting more trees, adding public art to adding green spaces, and from smart street designs to decluttered sidewalks, we can increase our quality of life in our city.
